I found some articles online about what had happened our first day in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I actually found out about this because one of the girls that was robbed was in our hostel talking about it on her phone loudly as I was walking down the stairs to my locker. This alarmed me of course because this had happened somewhat near our area in Copacabana and I wasn't sure of what to expect about Rio; only what I have heard about it in the news and from other people. All I'll say about Rio is be aware of your surroundings but be open minded.
