Riding the Flo

Had a few days in Florida with Nicole before I returned home to California. We just spent the few days relaxing by the pool and their "private beach", catching up on sleep, adjusting to the normal United States routine, and eating of course!

As requested by Nicole, I made hummus! Served with fresh veggies and warm pita bread. In Buenos Aires, I promised her good Middle Eastern mix up homecooking when she moved back to California. I'll post pictures of that when we do this!

I believe it was done in less than 4 minutes! They couldn't get enough of it.

Fresh veggies--Green peppers, cucumbers, scallions, and tomatoes.

As a thank you for having me over, I cooked that whole night for everyone. I decided to go simple yet satisfying with a taco salad. Feeds a large group and satisfies your belly. They also finished this faster than what I was expecting!

Cut up some fresh fruit--Strawberries and bananas.

Made a lovely tasting vanilla sauce. Of course decorated my plate, added the fruit, and LOADED up on the vanilla sauce, as you can see! No skimping out for me! Served alongside warm, crisp tortilla sugar chips. This was so incredibly good.

Hey! Where did it go? I WANT SOME MORE!

After this, cleaned up the kitchen, and decided to lay down for just a minute and then go party! Sadly, I passed out COMPLETELY and woke up at 8 in the morning! Such a party pooper I am! It just shows how tired I was despite being able to lay down on the plane from Rio to Miami and sleep the whole flight! We all got up and got breakfast at iHOP and of course got my usual blueberry pancakes and hearty breakfast...CARBS!

Enjoyed the rest of my time there, sun and more food! They took me to one of the best places in West Palm Beach where I ate some more!

The path leading to their little private beach. The site had a slight resemblence to the beach near our AMAZON location.

Nicole and I near the water before our dinner.

Here we are at the Old Key Lime House. Lovely place. I recommend sitting outside near the water.

Coconut Shrimp with Mango Chutney. Very much delectable and enjoyed the sauce.

Shrimp and Chips. Can you tell I LOVE shrimp?

They got me the oh so delightful Key Lime Pie that we shared. Definitely tastes better in Florida!

The next day we woke up early for my flight back to California. Such a bittersweet end to our adventure.

Arrived home and the first thing I did after talking to my mom was lay down in my own bed! Nice. Ended up having to go to the Sprint store that same day to buy a new charger because I had accidently left my charger in our hostel in Cataratas del IguazĂș. Driving, let me tell you, felt awkward to me after not being able to drive for so long! And when all you see are fast drivers in Argentina and Brazil, you have to keep reminding yourself to drive the speed limit!

Later that day, my parents surprised me with a belated birthday cake. For those of you who don't know, I'm the one in the family who always wants the random cakes and flavors to enjoy on my special days. I'm the weird one! So when I saw this cake, it was love! My parents know me well!

Mom was telling me that when she saw this one, it reminded her of me and had to get it--no second guessing! This cake combines two desserts that I love into two layers---FLAN on top and CHOCOLATE CAKE on the bottom! Fortunately no frosting, but whipped cream and fresh fruit-Strawberries, Apples, and Peaches. I thoroughly enjoyed this scrumptious delight!

Last but not least, the tree bloomed when I was gone!
